The CSR programme in Mali is focussed on our immediate village of Falea. The company has donated gardening tools to the local women, installed solar lights around the village, as well as donations to the local health clinic. The local schools have received hygiene kits and their toilets have been upgraded. Employment opportunities in Falea are difficult so the company employs locals to carry out maintenance on the camp and assist in geological work.
The most recent help consisted of rebuilding the school benches, donations to the Health Centre consisting of a delivery table, office chairs, batteries for solar panels and surgery kits.
Three more solar lamps were added to the village at the Health Centre, Prefet’s yard and Village Public square.
Market gardening, by the local women, is a source of fresh vegetables for the village, and in the past, the company has donated water pumps, seeds and tools. In 2019, they received watering cans and herbicides. We are also working with the locals to help make gardening more sustainable, through training.
